Tomb Raider: In Real Life
A British Adventure...
During childhood I had many visits to relatives in Scotland and family trips to England, where I most looked forward to exploring castles and stately homes or the Highlands and national parks.
Later, in my twenties, I spent a lot of time in Glastonbury, during my self-exploration phase, which then felt like the proverbial home-away-from-home. I also enjoyed many return visits to Scotland and in particular Edinburgh, a city with which I felt an affinity for its history, architecture - and a hill with an uncanny resemblance to Cave Hill, in Belfast, where I grew up.
Perhaps my gaming heroine being British and many of the classic games featuring her English countryside manor, added to my fondness of the place. Not to mention some more obvious sites around Great Britain, including Stonehenge and Avebury, Glastonbury Tor, Edinburgh castle, the Scottish Highlands and even London's Underground and St. Paul's Cathedral, which of course made it into the third game.
These images are some of my favourite places on the island, whilst the music I selected is the original theme from the first game, which seemed fitting for Lara Croft's home turf.
